Richard B. Cheney, a distinguished public servant and businessman, is vice president. Cheney is a recognizable name in Washington throughout his time. George W. Bush was the president of the 4th generation to which he was a part of. Bush has nominated Cheney to be his vice president running mate in July the year 2000. Bush cited Cheney's wisdom, judgment, and experience. Dick Cheney was a chief of staff for presidents. He worked for the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense and served the country in a variety of roles. Cheney is an honest man and is respected by Republicans and Democrats. Cheney is of the opinion that his work as a member of the Bush administration is to act as a candid but discrete advisor. Cheney has accepted the Republican vice-presidential nomination in 2007, stated that his hopes were high for serving under a president that is able to work across party lines and work with political rivals by fostering goodwill and working towards a common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney is the son of Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born on January 30, 1941 at Lincoln Nebraska. At the age of 13, Richard Bruce and his family moved from Nebraska to Casper (in the state of Wyoming) in Wyoming, where his father worked as the director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's soil conservation district.
