Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 at an Olympic contest. Comaneci was discovered by Bela Karolyi, later to be the Romanian gymnastics coach at the time she was only six years old. First competing in the junior national championships of Romania in 1969, she was 13th. In 1970, she won. At her first international event that was an Olympic-style junior preolympic competition for countries in the Communist bloc, she was awarded three gold medals. And in 1973 and 1975, she was awarded the All-around Junior Champion. She took home four gold medals and one silver medals in her debut competition as a senior which took place in the year 1975. This was her first time she participated as an older senior. She was the first woman ever to successfully perform the backwards double salto after dismounting from an unbalanced parallel bar. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. When she was in her teens, she began performing in traveling shows like Ice Capades as a skater along with her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne is a United States citizen, born on the 6th of September 1942, in Chicago Illinois. Carol was a professional in the world of entertainment as a teen. As a young girl she started her career as a figure skating performer with Nina Wayne in the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. The shows featured skaters who were accompanied by theatrical music.
